Devistation

Dear Sesame Street,

You have crushed my 3 year-old daughter.  She has recently discovered your show, but can no longer watch it.  We were having so much fun learning with your lovely characters, especially Ernie and Bert.  Until yesterday.

I was in the kitchen cleaning up the girls' breakfast dishes.  Suddenly, Cassidy yelled at me, "Mommy!" and then started crying.  Rushing in to the playroom, I hugged her and asked what had happened.  She pointed to the television and uttered incoherently.  Clearly, something quite terrible had happened.

After she had calmed down enough to tell me what was going on, she said, "Mommy, 'C' is for 'cookie,'" in a voice filled with devastation.  Not understanding where she was going with this, I agreed with her, somewhat pridefully, I must admit.  She looked at me with tears in her eyes.  Then she said, "'C' is for cookie!  Not CASSIDY."

Yep, we've lost our love for Sesame Street.  Mean old Cookie Monster has crushed her intellectual world.  Damn his love of all things cookie.

We'll miss you, Ernie and Bert!
